Advent
The season of Advent can be a wonderful time of celebration. It can also inspire deep reflection as we journey towards the wonder of Jesus’ birth.
There are a range of resources to help individuals and groups mark the Advent season here. We hope that they will guide and inspire in the lead up to Christmas.
Blue Christmas
A Blue Christmas service recognises that Christmas is not always a happy time in people’s lives. There can be grief and lament associated with the holiday season. Blue Christmas services are quieter and more reflective. They are traditionally held around the 21st – 22nd December. You can read more about preparing for a Blue Christmas service here. Luke Blackbeard from The Village Presbyterian Church has made his liturgy, order of service and slides for a Blue Christmas service available for download, feel free to adapt this as needed for your Church or ministry context.
Weekly Advent Reflections
These reflections have been put together by Malcolm Gordon and Adrian Taylor. They have kindly allowed us to host them here.
Advent with Whānau
Here are some resources to help with service planning for tamariki and for whānau to mark the season of Advent at home.
